Blocks Smart Parcel Lockers
Secure parcel delivery and collection, without the manual handover
The Blocks Smart Parcel Locker System provides a secure, self-service way to manage parcel delivery, collection and internal item exchange.
Designed for workplaces, apartments, universities, student accommodation, commercial buildings and other shared environments, Blocks can automate the full parcel journey from deposit through to recipient notification and collection.
Users can access parcels through methods such as PIN, QR code, mobile, touchscreen or integrated third-party systems, while administrators retain visibility and control through the Blocks Admin Zone.
Built for Parcel Delivery and Collection
Blocks software can be configured around the way parcels, documents or goods move through your site.
Courier Deliveries
Couriers can securely deposit parcels into an available locker for later collection.
Recipient Collection
Recipients can be automatically notified when an item is ready and access the correct locker using their assigned credential.
Internal Deliveries
Use lockers for documents, equipment, mail or other items moving between staff, departments or building users.
Click & Collect
Create a secure handover point for pre-ordered goods or items without requiring face-to-face collection.
Returns & Item Exchange
Allow items to be returned, exchanged or left for another authorised person to collect.

Simple Delivery. Simple Collection.
A typical parcel journey can be:
Courier arrives → Recipient selected → Parcel deposited → Recipient notified → Recipient authenticates → Locker opens
Depending on the project, access can include:
- PIN
- QR code
- Touchscreen
- Mobile access
- RFID / NFC
- Employee or resident credentials
- Third-party apps
- Integrated workplace or property systems
One System. Multiple Parcel Workflows.
Blocks technology is built around flexible software workflows rather than one fixed delivery process.
Standard Parcel Delivery
Courier selects the recipient, deposits the parcel and the recipient is automatically notified.
PIN or QR Collection
Recipients can receive a secure PIN or QR code to collect their item.
Mobile Collection
Users can access parcels through supported mobile or web-based interfaces.
Live Recipient Directory
Recipient details can be synchronised with an existing employee, resident or building directory.
Click & Collect
Use the same locker bank for customer collection of retail orders or pre-arranged items.
Supplier & Internal Deliveries
Support supplier deliveries, document exchange, equipment distribution and other secure handover workflows.
Custom Parcel Workflows
Configure the system around existing workplace, residential, property or logistics systems.
The workflow can be designed around the way parcels already move through your organisation.
How Many Parcel Locker Compartments Do I Need?
As a general rule of thumb, we recommend allowing approximately one parcel locker compartment for every three residents or regular recipients.
For example:
120 apartments → approximately 40 parcel locker compartments
This is a starting point only. Some sites may operate successfully with fewer compartments, while higher-volume sites may require more.
The final quantity should consider:
- Number of residents or recipients
- Average parcel delivery volume
- Frequency of deliveries
- How quickly parcels are collected
- Peak delivery periods
- Typical parcel sizes
- Whether lockers are also used for retail pickup, supplier deliveries or internal distribution
Quick Rule of Thumb
Number of recipients ÷ 3 = approximate parcel locker quantity
Secure Lockers can help determine the most suitable quantity for your project.

What Size Parcel Lockers Do I Need?
The ideal mix depends on the types of parcels your site normally receives.
For most projects, we recommend a combination of small, medium and large compartments so the system can handle a practical range of deliveries.
As a general starting point:
1/3 Small
1/3 Medium
1/3 Large
For example:
60 compartments = approximately 20 small, 20 medium and 20 large
This ratio can then be adjusted based on the expected delivery profile of the building.
Full Control Through Blocks Admin Zone
The Blocks Admin Zone gives authorised facility, workplace and property teams central control over the parcel locker system.
Administrators can:
- View occupied and available lockers
- Monitor current and completed deliveries
- See how long parcels have remained in lockers
- Manage users and recipient information
- Allocate, release and reset lockers
- Remotely open authorised lockers
- Review parcel and locker activity
- Manage multiple locker banks or sites
- Monitor utilisation and demand
- Assist with missed or failed collections
- Review audit trails
This gives operators visibility over both locker availability and parcel activity, helping reduce manual handling and resolve issues quickly.

Integrates With Your Existing Systems
Your parcel lockers don’t need to operate as a standalone system
One of the strengths of Secure Lockers with Blocks software is its ability to integrate with existing workplace, residential, property and logistics technology.
The system can connect with:

- Employee directories
- Resident databases
- Property management systems
- Workplace applications
- Building access-control systems
- Courier or logistics platforms
- Mobile applications
- Third-party software
- Custom internal systems
A live directory integration is often recommended.
When someone joins, leaves or moves, the recipient list can update automatically without staff needing to maintain a separate parcel locker database.
Blocks also provides an open API and SDK, allowing integrations with compatible custom applications and third-party systems.
Insulated Parcel Lockers
Help keep temperature-sensitive deliveries protected
Secure Lockers will provide the correct number of insulated parcel locker compartments to help reduce temperature change after a delivery has been placed into the locker.
Some or all compartments within a parcel locker bank can be insulated depending on the project requirements.
Insulated parcel lockers are particularly useful for:
- Grocery deliveries
- Meal deliveries
- Chilled food
- Hot food
- Workplace food deliveries
- Residential parcel lockers
- Temperature-sensitive goods
A single locker bank can combine Standard compartments for everyday parcels and general deliveries. And Insulated compartments for food, grocery and other temperature-sensitive items.
Insulated compartments help slow temperature change. They are not actively refrigerated or heated unless a specifically engineered temperature-controlled solution is provided.

What Locker Material Is Right for Your Parcel Lockers?
The best material depends on where the lockers are installed, how exposed they are and the finish you want to achieve.
Metal Parcel Lockers
A lower-cost option, but more industrial in appearance and more susceptible to dents, scratches and corrosion over time.
Compact Laminate Parcel Lockers
Our preferred option for durability. Highly resistant to moisture, impact and scratching, making it ideal for high-use and semi-outdoor locations.
Laminate Parcel Lockers
Best for fully indoor areas where appearance matters. Offers a premium furniture-style finish with a wide range of colours and woodgrains.
In most projects, we recommend compact laminate for durability or laminate for premium indoor finishes.
Custom Branding Available
Make your parcel lockers part of the building, brand or customer experience
Secure Lockers provides full custom branding across the front of your parcel locker system.
Graphics can be applied across individual doors or across the entire locker bank, allowing the lockers to become a visible branded feature rather than simply a piece of equipment.
Custom branding can include:
- Company or building branding
- Full-colour graphics
- Logos and brand colours
- Delivery instructions
- Courier guidance
- Collection instructions
- Wayfinding
- Marketing or promotional artwork
This is particularly useful for parcel lockers because the locker bank itself can clearly show how to make a delivery, how to collect a parcel and where to begin the process.
Where required, a full-colour printed design can run across the complete face of the locker bank, incorporating the locker doors into one continuous graphic.

Hardwired Smart Parcel Locker Technology
Blocks technology most commonly operates as a hardwired smart parcel locker system, with electronic locks connected back to central controllers and the Blocks platform. However the locks can be run as Bluetooth when hardwiring isn't convenient.
Hardwiring makes it particularly suitable for larger parcel locker installations where the system needs to be centrally managed, monitored and integrated with other building or software systems.
A typical system can include:
- Electronic locker locks
- Connection hubs and controllers
- Touchscreen terminal
- QR scanner
- RFID / NFC reader
- Power connection
- Data / internet connection
- Cloud-based management
- Third-party system integrations
The final hardware configuration is developed around the required parcel workflow, access method and site environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
A smart parcel locker system allows parcels or other items to be securely deposited into electronically controlled lockers for later collection by an authorised recipient.
The software manages the delivery, locker allocation, recipient notification and collection process.
Not necessarily.
The system can be configured so delivery drivers identify or register themselves before depositing a parcel, or it can use a simpler open-delivery workflow.
A simpler process can reduce friction for couriers, while a more controlled process can provide greater traceability and proof of who accessed the system.
Either option is possible.
The system can allow anyone to begin a delivery workflow, or require authentication using a PIN, mobile number, credential or another approved method.
The preferred approach depends on the security and traceability requirements of the site.
No parcel locker system can completely prevent deliberate misuse by someone intent on causing harm.
For higher-risk environments, additional controls can be introduced, including delivery-driver identification, mobile-number verification, one-time access codes, restricted delivery access, CCTV coverage, access logs and building access-control integration.
These measures can improve traceability, accountability and overall security.
